Finally?

My yard on February 26.

My yard on March 1.

Springing sprouts! So very welcome. Ahh....

And then there was thaw...

I thought I'd do some "during and after" pictures of the current thaw. February 13 and then February 15 in my yard and driveway.

And then...

There is green! This little tiny probably perennial probable weed might stay green under the snow and ice all winter. But right now, I just love looking at something green. I'll take it!

Real snow!

Seven inches on top of the trash dumpster at 2:30 p.m. More is still falling. But it's a light fluffy snow, and no wind, which makes a huge difference.

Snowy sage bush.

The bird feeder wearing a stylish hat.

White frosted cake on a birdbath platter. It's the latest thing.

Branches and snow, yes, it's Winter after all.

A jaunty angle on this one.

Yew and snow sculpture with fence.

Deck the deck with fluffy white stuff.

All in all, so far it hasn't been a terrible snow experience. I can almost appreciate it until I realize it's still snowing and the dark of 5:30 a.m. will come all too soon...and with too much fluffy white stuff back on the car again.

Topeka Has Poetry!

Not all the poets on this list are from Topeka, but sometimes some of them are. For updates on the readings organized by Top City Poetry, go to their website, Top City Poetry. Please check that site before coming, as dates do occasionally change.

And do come and enjoy! I'll be at as many of these as possible myself.
